The story of Kaneta...

Kaneta tavern is situated In a lovely, one hundred year old house next to the only traffic light in Opatija.. You'll find us in Opatija, Nova cesta street nr. 80.
Kaneta was established in year 2000 and since then it has been a haven to gourmets and lovers of traditiional cuisine and famous fine wines of Istra and Kvarner region.

Kaneta's groundwork was done by old Mr. Jakus, who was well known and loved in and around Opatija - during the 1960s he was offering his popular, tasty sandwiches with home made bacon and češnjovka sausages (fine garlic sausages) in the same spot where Kaneta stands now.
In honor of Mr. Jakus we named one of our specialties after him.

The book 'Gustoza đita' written for lovers of traditional regional 'soul food' named our tavern among the 60 best restaurants on the coast of Adriatic.

Kaneta tavern offers baked dishes made in traditional 'bread oven', home made bread, domestic lamb, veal, octopus, Adriatic squid, rich offer of home made ravioli with cepe mushrooms or wild asparagus, various sweet sundaes with cherries, blueberries or strawberries...

We also organize business dinners and luncheons and all kinds of celebrations.
Our friendly staff is well trained and will be able to communicate with you in Croatian, Italian, English and German language.

Kaneta's interior is designed for an intimate atmosphere and is air-conditioned with 50 seats.
On weekends and holiday we recommend reserving your table in advance. We accept payment by Master, Maestro and American Express cards. Parking space is provided.
Kaneta's working hours are 07:00 - 24:00 h, Sunday and holiday 11:00 - 20:00 h.
